The launch of the new generation of the iPhone and other Apple products , on Wednesday (7), was also closely followed by its great rival, Samsung . But the Galaxy S22 maker didn’t praise the competitor, of course, opting to fire off tweets mocking Apple’s debuts .
In one of the posts, the American branch of Samsung seems to have accused the Cupertino giant of plagiarism. The message, which in free translation read something like “Cool story, bro”, had the letters “O” from the expression, considered sarcastic, replaced by purple circles.
The tweet was an indirect reference to the color purple that will be offered as a tint option on versions of the iPhone 14 Pro , one of the devices presented during the event. This same shade became available by the South Korean brand in the Galaxy S22 line , recently, in an alternative called “ Bora Purple ”.
Samsung’s Twitter account also did not fail to point at an alleged lack of innovation by Apple in the design of the new iPhones . To do so, the profile used the brand’s foldable cell phones ( Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold ) as a reference, writing the message “Notify us when it folds”, in free translation, accompanied by an ironic emoji.
Apple Watch 8 was also mocked
Another novelty revealed by Apple at the long-awaited event, the Apple Watch Series 8 was also the subject of jokes by the rival. The new generation of the smartwatch gained a larger and more resistant variant , called Ultra, but kept the rectangular look.
And it was precisely the design that appeared as a feature criticized by Samsung. “Nice. A little square, but nice. We prefer a round shape. Classic,” the company tweeted, highlighting the rounded look of the Galaxy Watch line .
The joke, which at no time directly cited Apple releases or the manufacturer itself, gained thousands of likes on the microblog.
